The gun violence issues killing our children:
Problem: Children shooting themselves or other children with unsecured, unlocked and loaded guns
Solution: Pass national laws for mandatory gun locks on all guns in households with children under 21 with legal consequences for parents and other family members.
Problem: Children shot in their car-seats, homes or yards or public places from indiscriminate crossfire or targeted gunfire
Solution: Raise the age for legally purchasing guns to 21 from 18 and close loopholes enabling persons under 18 from buying guns from unlicensed dealers.
Problem: Children shot in their schools by shooters with automatic weapons
Solution: Ban all assault/automatic weapons.
Problem: Children shot by a parent on purpose
Solution: All states must pass laws keeping perpetrators of domestic violence from owning guns and pass Red Flag laws keeping guns out the hands of those suffering from mental illness.
Additional Issues related to gun violence which must be addressed
Establish a comprehensive national gun sale data base.
Require mandated universal background checks, including at gun shows (now exempt) and provide for reasonable waiting periods.
Halt gun sales to people on watch lists.
Mandate gun owner licensing for all guns.
Prohibit private ownership of AR-15 type assault rifles and large capacity magazines.
Require concealed carry permits.
Establish universal open carry regulations.
Impose substantial taxes on guns and ammunition to compensate victims and offset law enforcement costs.
More funding for community violence intervention.
Require insurance on all gun purchases, like car insurance, in cases of deaths and injuries to other parties.
Vote for those who choose children over guns.
